Early Interventionist - Charleston Office
My name is Amanda Bishop and I am an early interventionist in Bright Start’s Charleston office. I graduated from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC, with a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. While completing my degree, I worked in an inclusive child development center in the 3-year-old classroom. During that time, I developed a bond with a little boy with autism and was quickly appointed as his one-on-one. He had an early interventionist and I would see her weekly with him. I learned so much from her! It wasn’t long before I knew that’s what I wanted to do; be an EI. When I graduated from WCU, my husband and I moved to Charleston and I worked as an ABA therapist for 3 years. As much as I loved ABA, I finally found a career opportunity and was able to become an EI. I worked in the early intervention field for almost 10 years before coming to Bright Start. I discovered that not only did I love working with children with special needs, but I also had a passion for helping their families. I love being able to empower families and watch them overcome challenges in their daily lives. Watching these amazing children and their family’s bond and meet their goals is the ultimate reward. I’m so happy to be with a company like Bright Start who values that kind of love, compassion, and integrity as much as I do.
